Copyright & DMCA

Last updated: 1 November 2026. This page explains how content on Sotto Kotha (sottokotha.com) is protected, how you may use it, and how to send a copyright complaint (including a DMCA-style notice).

We protect our own work and respect others’ rights. Editorial standard: original writing, original/licensed images, no fabricated quotes — see the Editorial Policy and Terms.

1. What is protected

AssetTypical status
Original article text (Bangla and English twin)Copyright protected — no republishing without permission
Editorial structure, key points, unique guide framingProtected expression; raw facts/public data are not “owned” as prose
Theme design, layout, UI copy, icons/spritesSite presentation protected
Brand wordmark “সত্য কথা” / Sotto KothaIdentity mark — do not run a fake brand
Images and diagrams we create or commissionProtected unless a separate licence says otherwise
Third-party logos, screenshots, stock/licensed mediaUnder their terms — not free just because they appear here

Facts (for example a government fee amount) may sit outside copyright; our wording and arrangement do not. Background: U.S. Copyright Office — Copyright Basics (PDF) · WIPO — Copyright.

2. Permitted use (courtesy — not a broad licence)

Usually fineCondition
Personal reading and learningNot commercial reprinting
Fair, short quotationClear credit + link to the original; keep context
Social share / link sharingShare tools or URL — not pasting the full article
Ordinary search-engine indexingRespect robots.txt and meta directives
Small classroom examplesNon-commercial teaching; not redistributing full articles

For commercial reprints, translation rights or large excerpts, email first: [email protected]. Do not assume silent consent.

3. Prohibited use

  • Copying full articles or large site portions onto another domain
  • Bulk redistribution via scrapers/aggregators or paywalled products
  • Fake “official” sites/apps using our name, logo or wordmark
  • Mass crawling for AI training or datasets that ignores our prohibitions or robots rules
  • Stripping credits/watermarks for commercial image use
  • Treating third-party proprietary UI screenshots as “free images” via our site — editorially we also avoid unclear-licence screenshots

4. Images, diagrams and media

Per our PRD and editorial docs: images must be original or properly licensed; featured images are usually 16:9 and wide enough for social/Discover; alt text must be descriptive.

RuleDetail
Original generation / photo / diagramPreferred; posts usually use multiple realistic images
Licensed stockFollow the licence; keep proof
Government/board logosNo forged documents or fake official marks
App/site screenshotsAvoid when licensing is unclear — use generic mocks/diagrams
CreditCaption sources when needed; never claim others’ work as ours

5. Trademarks and brand

“সত্য কথা” / Sotto Kotha and distinctive site marks identify us. Do not use them commercially without permission, typosquat domains, or claim to be “part of Sotto Kotha”. Honest informational references (“according to a Sotto Kotha guide…”) are fine in good faith.

6. Before you send a notice

  • Confirm you are the rights holder or an authorised agent.
  • Check the URL and the work — a wrong page wastes time.
  • Fair quotation or bare facts may not be infringement.
  • For factual errors (not copyright), use the Corrections Policy.

7. Copyright takedown notice (DMCA-style)

Sotto Kotha is Bangladesh-based. Many hosts/CDNs still recognise U.S. DMCA §512-style processes. We review good-faith notices and take reasonable action (removal, replacement, or decline). References: copyright.gov — DMCA Section 512 · DMCA §512 FAQ · 17 U.S.C. §512 (Cornell LII).

7.1 What your notice should include

ElementExplanation
1. Description of the workWhich copyrighted work you claim is infringed
2. LocationSpecific URL(s) on sottokotha.com
3. Your contactName, email, address, phone if available
4. Good-faith statementYou believe the use is not authorised
5. Accuracy statementThe notice is accurate; you are the owner/agent — understanding false-notice consequences
6. SignaturePhysical or electronic signature

Send to: [email protected] — subject: Copyright / DMCA notice.

Incomplete notices may delay action. We may ask for more detail to verify identity or rights.

7.2 Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice identifying the material, your contact details, a good-faith statement that removal was erroneous, and (where applicable) consent to jurisdiction in the DMCA-style pattern. See 512 FAQ — counter-notification.

8. How we respond

StepWhat may happen
IntakeNotice queued; spam/incomplete filtered
ReviewCheck URL clarity and good-faith elements
ActionRemove/replace content, fix credit, or decline the notice
TimingTarget: a few working days; complex claims may take longer
Repeat infringementContributor/publisher access may be limited

This is not legal advice and does not automatically choose a foreign court — see Terms (governing law).

9. Links and embeds

Articles may link to third-party sites. Linking alone usually is not hosting their content. Complain to that site too when needed. Embedded media remains subject to the provider’s terms.

10. User-submitted material

Public comments are off at launch. If you email screenshots or documents, confirm you have the right to send them. We may delete spam or infringing attachments.

11. AI and training data

AI may assist drafts, but published text is human-reviewed original work. Close paraphrase or copying other sites is banned. Mass automated copying falls under prohibited use in our Terms.
